Idea and goals

The group brings together people with a love for nature and an interest in landscape photography. The group will aim to develop the individual view of each participant and work towards longer-term projects. We will bet a lot on practice, regularly organizing trips for the purpose of photos and exchange of experience.

Within 2023, with the support of the NFK, the working group will hold a major group exhibition showcasing the work of the distinguished participants.

Working principle

In the group, we will bet on conscious practice – a process of constant work, analysis and improvement of results. The group will organize regular trips and creative talks where participants will have an opportunity to photograph, reflect and analyze the footage each month. Active participation and expression of opinion by all participants will be fundamental. We focus both on the group effort for organizing photos, selecting a location, organizing additional equipment, if needed, and on the development of an individual view. Within the group, each participant should supplement and rethink their portfolio and find a challenge in longer-term personal projects.

Schedule and organization

Working groups are an environment for free communication, in which the dynamics of communication, as well as their content, will be determined by the participants.

We start with the idea of a minimum of 2 meetings per month. Meetings will take place on Thursdays.

The meeting place is “Nikolay Khaitov” community center. It is located in the Iztok district next to the Billa store (the former Iztok cinema) at 7 Major Yuri Gagarin Street, Sofia.

First meeting: 12/01/2022, Thursday, 19:00

The next scheduled meeting is on January 26, and the group will make its first trip in the period January 27-29 (the trip will be planned during the first meetings).

The group will meet with this schedule in the period November 2022 – May 2023. The group exhibition is planned for autumn 2023.

Ivan Miladinov

I am a biochemist by education, but professionally I have been involved in photography for nearly 20 years. As in the beginning, as now, wildlife photography was the main way I could escape the big city and the stress of everyday life. Gradually, I also discovered photography for myself as a kind of art, a way to express yourself, with what nature gives you as a picture and a situation… The task is not always easy, because things do not depend entirely on the person with the camera. In recent years I try to work on long concept projects, it gives me a boost and helps me see development in my work.

I am involved in this endeavor with the attitude of pushing things in the direction of the individual view and distinguishing ourselves from the images constantly flooding us in the internet space. I hope that, as a group, we all work together, but also think about the development of each individual participant’s own vision.
