Our “Inspiration Feeder” presents to you short interviews with interesting visual artists from around the globe. Today in focus: Natalia Gw.
How old are you?
I’m 25 years old.
Where do you come from?
I’m from Bogotá, Colombia.
How long have you been doing photography?
I’ve been doing photography for seven years approximately, but three years focused in fashion and portrait.
How long do you think it took you to find your personal style of shooting?
I love to do editorial cause showing things a little surreal is the perfect way to express myself. My style is just love and passion for my work, for the colors and for the simplicity.
How long do you think it took you to find your personal style of shooting?
I think we’re always learning, don’t feel I’m quite in a place where I have everything figured out. Every shoot I have I learn something new about light and its behavior, I was very into over exposed pictures before, but now I’m trying to explore shadows in a more profound way. The only thing that is a constant in my work is the color, that’s the thing I care about the most and treat meticulously. Maybe the most important thing is to enjoy what you’re doing and find a team that understands you and also that you can understand and learn from.
What would you say is the thing that most inspires you? / What is your main source of inspiration?
My fascination for forms, the contrast of shapes and colors. Color has always played an important role in my life; I relate colors with people. Even the days of the week have always been colors to me. Color and composition are important the moment I shoot something, that’s the base and the beginning of my process. My slogan is “Simple is enough” Sometimes people think of simplicity ad poor or lacking, but i feel it as the greatest of expression: we don’t need more than the essential in life or in work.
