Our “Inspiration Feeder” presents to you short interviews with interesting visual artists from around the globe. Today in focus: Visual Scientist.
How old are you?
I am 30 years old, 1989 year of birth.
Where do you come from?
I was born in Siberia (northern Russia), I lived in Minsk for a long time and about five years ago I moved to Sochi (southern Russia) It is very cool here, its diverse nature and fresh air.
How long have you been doing photography?
I started taking photos about 10 years ago. At one point I was fulfilling an order by drawing on the wall a fluorescent pattern in the customer’s apartment. I used an ultraviolet lamp which made it possible to highlight fluorescent pigment very brightly. And at some point I realized that I can use this technique for body painting. When I did this for the first time helping my friends in the shooting of the clip, I took a picture of it for the first time and I really liked the result. Since then, I began to do this more often and develop my style.
How would you define your style?
My style i would call acid cyber realism. In all my projects I use bright and very bright colors. In addition, I often create the atmosphere of the future with elements of cyberpunk, and at the same time I make sure that everything looks as natural and realistic as possible.
How long do you think it took you to find your personal style of shooting?
Now I understand that my style in which I work at the moment began to form since childhood when I draw dinosaurs and underwater creatures from scientific encyclopedias. I am always drawn to something new, unusual and unknown. Over time, I began to draw robots and monsters which I saw in anime and Hollywood science fiction films. Now I take pictures and sometimes draw on top of my photos on my computer or on the iPad Pro. In other words, I began to combine all my favorite skills in one thing and I do it very well.
What would you say is the thing that most inspires you? / What is your main source of inspiration?
I have always had many sources of inspiration equally. I get very strong inspiration while listening to music. I listen to different styles, but I can highlight a few of my main favorites that I listen to most often. Ambient, IDM, Dark techno. The enormous amount of strength I get while walking in nature: in the forests, among the rocks, on waterfalls, near the sea and just in the gardens on the site of the house. It is very important to be open to the world and all its diversity so that everything around you can permeate you and leave a part inside you. In this case, there will always be inspiration.
